I'm contemplating making some gears for a clock and one option would be to make the pinions using my rotary axis. This is a Myford type dividing head with a stepper motor attached which works very well but does have some backlash, so it is best to drive it in a way that only needs rotation in one direction.
I see in the "job settings" tab of the 4th-axis toolbar there is a tickbox for "Uni Directional" - is this supposed to select this, or is there another setting, or indeed is it possible to do this at all in gearotic please?
Z axis backlash
Re: Z axis backlash
Apologies, I should have referred to A axis - i.e. ROTARY axis - backlash in my question!!
Re: Z axis backlash
Hi:
The unidirectional was added to allow for the backlash to not affect the gear. Takes longer but only cuts after moving in the
proper direction. Been awhile since Ive used it but I dont think there are any special considerations.
