Mistake  :-[

I found a silly mistake in my video. I show set screws holding the shaft on the right side for the Vane Mech parts. Obviously this shaft needs to rotate on the bearings shown so there would not be any set screws on this shaft. Sorry about that!

Bill:

I noticed it, but figured given the quality of the result, I wasnt about to throw stones. :)

Ha! Yeah, I figured that would be hard to miss if you had built it much less designed it. I made an annotation in the video.

Thanks,

As you had stainless hanging about, I had bronze ( my weight is squares of bronze..).
Excellent work all round, I hope the auction goes well. Let us know the results. Never know,
maybe Donald Trump will show up... :)

One ticker done...

Post by BrianB »

My first "Ticker". May there be many more ;D
It still needs a little work. But I don't think that it turned out to shabby.
Hopefully the video works. This will be my first video upload of any kind.

Brian, your video is private and unviewable.  Change it to public, or whatever they call viewable if you have the link; too early to remember the name :)

Hey I like it, I didnt think acrylic would lend itself to that type of sculpture but it
fits pretty well, warm looking.

Thanks. Yeah it's amber, I had some scrap acrylic laying around so I though I would test it with that first, But I think wood definitely looks better.
Although its time to start getting ready for bazaar season, I thought maybe some dancing elves, or a couple of reindeer and a sleigh on the veins. People like gaudy things at events like that.

Hi All,

Here is my first attempt at Scimitar. As I don't have a CNC (yet,  :) everything was cut with a scroll saw. I'm trying to get it to run with just the arms on. there is about 1.5 lbs on the weight wheel. when i manually flick the vane assy. it only moves a small bit in the counterclockwise direction. The shaft is free wheeling. Any ideas why it is not rotating as it should? see this you tube link.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLKw2Zu ... e=youtu.be

thanks,
Carlton
