I couldn't find that this has been covered elsewhere.  First attempt to do more than play around with Vexx

After several years of 3D printer fixation the vastly under equipped  Mooselake South has added a 3018 CNC router, and (after being a long  time guilloche gadfly) what could be a better test than the Vexx guilloche module.  No non-user problems there, but while trying to use the gcode generator I found it unable to generate negative Z values.  With safe Z, depth, and per pass all set to 1 mm (-1 is not accepted) the resultant gcode air cut a mm above the surface.  This in cardboard with a 1/8" 20 degree V bit, better materials (sheet brass might be nice) await a shopping expedition.

Also it only allows a default file extension of .tap, and my gcode sender wants .nc.  All files allows an override, but gets a bit cumbersome.  An option to change the default extension, while not essential, would be nice.

I will put that on my list.. negative z's and tap file to alternate ext.

Thanks!

I'll try importing the dxf into Carbide Create and see what happens.  Could be fun to try engraving something like aluminum to see how the mini machine's 100W spindle handles it.
