New Downloads

Post by ArtF »

Hi All:

The downloads page has been updated to a new install for Gearotic, this includes only a few minor
fixes from the past development season. However, Auggie has been removed from the distribution
and is a download install of its own for those that use it. I did this because few of us run lasers so
Auggies use is likley quite low, and while Gearotic used Auggie for its drawing program, that job
will now be taken over by Vexx, which will be reached by the same button you used for the "Vector
processor".
Auggie also caused quite a few false virus warnings, so since Auggie users tend to be advanced
enough to handle such things, removing it may ease concerns for those that only use the gear generator
itself. Vexx should cause no such warnings.

Vexx is  not yet turned on, so if you install as of today, you will lose the capability to run the
vector processor unless you also install Auggie and modify its icon to have a program parameter
of "- CON" which causes it to run in vector graphics mode only.  Ill soon modify the Auggie install
so it creates such a run icon during its install. You may still see virus warnings during an Auggie
install as it uses many self unpacking files, ( and antivirals hate that. :) )

The minor fixes are not such that you need to reinstall at the moment, but I make these notes for
anyone who does a fresh install and wonders what happened to the Auggie Icon and the vector processor.

Thx

Art
