Hi All:
A new version is online, no changes other than a new shortcut on the screen named Gearotic-Spur, its a small program for creating Spurs for 3d Printing. It allows for decorating STL's with bearings, collars and spokes. It is an early beta , I haven't as yet done a tutorial, but that will come.
Notes:
1) It doesn't , as of yet , remember anything, each run of the program is a fresh run.
2) It is 3 stages.
First stage: Create gear tooth array, if you require backlash, set the backlash to .47 or so. Helical is also available as well as cycloidal.
Second Stage, decorate the front and/or back of the gears with bearing races, flanges, collars or clamp collars.
Last Stage:
Only spokes are now shown, select spokes and manipulate them as you wish. Press "Integrate" to create the end high definition
STL's of the gears. That's it, gear is complete, export buttons appear on screen.
These gears are created as Signed-Distance-Functions. This is why on the spokes screen I separate you from the gear outline,
SDF's of gears are very slow as they are a tough computation in the real time rendering of sdf's. The integration allows for a final computation of the stl with a marching cubes algorithm set to triangulate all details to a minimum of a function of the pitch radius, this is to allow very small gears for resin 3d printing with radii less than 5mm.
Let me know if you run into troubles. I hope this aids in producing gears that lock to shafts more easily for you.
Regards

New Module Released
Re: New Module Released
When I click to go to stage 2 the screen refreshes, then there is a pause and the program exists with no error message.
This is a new install, on a windows 11 as my last machine died so went to a mini pc.

Re: New Module Released
Hi:
Thanks for the information, that's the first report of this, so I will add some code to see if we can narrow it down. Ill post when the next release of it is ready. Any other clues at all? Does it do it with all tooth types?
Last question, how much ram do you have?
Thanks

Re: New Module Released
Hi,
RAM 16MB
No other clues. First try I just clicked stage two didn't touch anything. I didn't methodically go thru settings but I did try changing the gear type and face. Simulation worked.

Re: New Module Released
Thanks,
Im still looking for a suspicious portion.
Note:
I didnt mention in the video that holding ctrl and clicking any control will
allow one to enter a number from the keyboard. Sliders sometimes suck at setting
a specific number.
Thanks

Re: New Module Released
Version 1.1b of spur is online, no changes other than some bug fixes. Things that may have caused crashing due to a thread running free.
