DXFs empty?

Post by Nic Bwts »

Hi

I'm trying to export DXFs but when I open them up in Inkscape there is nothing there.
I open them up in notepad++ and something is has been writtten but I've no idea what it means.

(I have tried opneing them in Inventor but the DXF functions in Inventor are terribly broken!)

I managed to open one in SolidWorks but all the teeth are missing from the gears

Inkscape's dxf handling can be a bit funny; you might want to spend some time with your favorite search engine.

One suggestion I found was to open (rather than import) the dxf file.  I was going to try it, but I'm putting this desktop back together after a hard drive crash and Inkscape seems to have been a casualty.

Yeah Inkscape is a bit flakey when it comes to DXF import.

Circular gear export fine now, its the log gears that dont have any teeth.
