New Notre Dame south facing stain glass window clock
New Notre Dame south facing stain glass window clock
I am finishing up a sweet project making a 21" clock with tons of inlays. I'm using my 100 W laser with a 24X34" nvable bed. Here is a redering of the clokk. I should have it done in another day.

They seem pretty OK on the mess side, but are more expensive to run than lasers.BobL wrote: Art;

Last time I checked a simple waterjet system cost over $100,000n Darn! My wife says NO!

I went to the waswercut web site and it looked really good. Seeing the guy cut that sprocket really fast. BUT when I moved down the web page where they showed the software setting up a cut it showed that it would take 96 minutes to cut the intricate sprocket at 1" a minute. It also doesn't mention... or at least I did see the maximum thickness of materials it could cut. Last the width of the cutting stream looked pretty coarse but that may be just the video. But the price is really, really good.... hey honey do you mind if I buy a waterjet? LOL

One other thing. The software says it would take 31 lbs of abrasives to cut that sprocket.

Over the Christmas vacation I visited a Makerspace in Baltimore where CEO girl knows the owner. They had a nice waterjet for their members, right by the 4x8 CNC router and plasma cutter. Heck, it's only a 24 hour (or so) drive from Mooselake. Might be worth it since they had a pancakebot in the break room. Better yet, with the current 16F and 50mph, maybe it should be a one way trip.
