Hi Art,
Here's my go at a ticker.  I've used the dimensions of Scimitar with respect to the gears and the ratchet mechanism.
I don't use bearings just steel on wood and I usually use 1/8" shafts.
All the parts are cut from 1/4" baltic birch and the visual part is just a simple interference pattern from 10" toothless wheels.  It works great on the test bench.

I had to clean (snow blow) about 1 Km of road to get to my CNC which is at the summer cottage where my CNC lives but it was worth the effort.

The Ticker is certainly not finished as the back is just solid wood and that will change in the future but my time has run out.

When finished it will be a shelf unit - no wall space left.

Yes there are some very small spokes in there I reduced the minimum size on pinion in GT that would still produce spokes (down to 1" if I remember correctly).  Its the same spoke pattern as on the drive wheel - just smaller.  Since my spindle is very small and driven by an RC motor I can't handle anything bigger than 1/8" cutter.  These components were all cut with a 1/16 router bit at 60 imp. 

I've had to leave the "bush" so it will be some time before I can go and play again but I will post when It gets done.  Ultimately it will be spring driven and I have no idea how long it will run. We'll see.

I had a little time last night and was able to get the vanes installed.
The vanes were styled after one Mr. Roy's pieces.
I think I will call this machine Sunset.

I appreciate the plans Art and I hope you do more along with the others here. It takes as long to do a 3D Cad model like this as it would to actually build it. Ha! If I don?t do a cad project every once in a while I start to get rusty plus I always enjoy it.

I understand what your saying, often by seeing you can quickly relate to what's going on, that is the part I like most about your video, well done.... I also love the rocking chair build, however I'd be a bit concerned with the wood working mojo between an axe and I and to anyone around me.. lol
