  All backlash really does is add that amount to the shaft disance, it doesnt change the gear at all.  So if you lke to have .01 backlash typically, just leave the number at .01, it has no effect on a gear bring placed on a shaft, it affect only the distance the program will use to place a meshing gear on another gear.
