Constant force spring

Post by Ian »

I am going to purchase a constant force spring 2.5kg cm

What is the calculation required to work out what weight this is equivalent to ?

Assuming it is related to the drum size the weight is wound on

Just trying to get a feeling of what I will be able to drive with this

Hi Ian:

In my experience, ( I have some 20lb , 10lb and 5lb.. the 20lb canot be unwound by hand..the 10 is hard, the 5 has a bit of pull. How you
compare this to the work it can do, Im not sure, I dont yet have enough personal experience. I know the 2.5kg is good for a thing like the Bat ticker... while the 20lb ones  I have can hardly be unwound without leverage. Check Vulcan springs, they have a tutorial online that shows
how to figure that out, I once figured it out for the bat, but Ive since forgotten..
