What graphic options might be affecting this program?
Suddenly having a blank white screen after loading a project.
In fact it is a white area from the start.
Recently update my driver software for my RADEON 6850 and everythin g works great (for all other items), even got back my ATI console.
It doesn't refresh the graphics area when pulling the left side tool area wider then shorter. (makes me think api call)
Any idea on setting to avoid would be appreciat ed.
Did a full re-install of Gearotic 467 even though it was working fine before.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Hi:
Hmm. Thats an odd one. It does sound very much like a video driver, but no-one to my knowledge has had that kind of problem
so it seems odd to have it suddenly appear if its a driver issue. Are you in Win7? It is necessary in Win7 on many machines to right click
the icon and select "Run as Admin", but usually this affects only the font informati on. For some reason Win7 see's the font usage as something
only an administr ator is allowed to change.
This should not affect such things as the main screen though. Its a typical doublebuf fered OpenGL screen. Normally, issues with OpenGL are solved
simply by updating the driver. That card is a pretty high level card as well so I wouldnt exect any memory issues.

Try selecting propertie s on the icon, and under compatabi lity select compatabi lity with Windows XP, that may force the system to use
a lower level of hardware accelerat ion. Sometimes, under the advanced settings for the Radeon's , you can find a slider for hardware accelerat ion,
lowing that slider, which is defaulted to all the way up, by 3 notches will seomtimes cure weirdness in OpenGL. I havent seen that for some time though.

Do I understan d correctly that is was running fine until a driver update? Or has the program been bad from the first time youve run it?

Let me know how it works out, perhaps I can think of some diagnosti c I can do to try to narrow it down for you. I take it your ATI console
was acting up so you updated? ( Ive owned ATI in tha past, so I do understan d some of the pain.., Im now an NVidea nut..)

my bad - os: vista64 (which has also run great for me)
it ran fine before the upgrade since that is the only thing that was installed (unfortuna tely I didn't run Gearotic the moment afterward s to see any correlati on)
Nothing else installed - apart from MS sneaking dotNet1 stuff in the backdoor although dotNet4 was all there and happy.
Knowing now that it is OpenGL helps alot - thanks Smiley

as an aside - I was a longtime NVIDIA owner - on a whim I tried this card and was blown away in the performan ce AND the compatibi lity Grin and YES the ATI Console has been problemat ic for many years it seems.

Yeah, my ATI always messed up with the console as well. After an update I once did, I ended up replacing my ATI with an NVidea just out of frustrati on that Portal2 wouldnt run.
Smiley

Id try the hardware accelerat ion setting, it could very well be the issue. Also, some of the ATI's allow you to turn off some features, you might want to try that, getting rid of things like trilinear buffering and such may help. Id turn off all features, then if GM works, turn them back on one at a time. Migth be the fastest way to find if its that.

DISABLE TRIPLE BUFFERING in the OpenGL tab is what works. Wink
Added 24bit Zdepth while there. Grin
Did all this with the ATI TRAY TOOLS as it reaches a bit deeper in the available options.
Saved it as a profile and it works - from either the system tray or the desktop.
Thanks for the reinforci ng the idea on the triple buffering!
