Hi Guys:

New version 4.67 is online. It includes the capabilit y of using the faceplate s for GCode generatio n as well as 1:1 printing.
1:1 printing is also implement ed for all parts of escapemen ts. If an escapemen t is selected for printing, multiple pages will be printed
with one part on each page of the various escapemen t pawls and such. 3d dxf's may also be made of the faceplate s.

Thx

I love the new 1:1 print out feature, Thank You.

Any chance you can add all the specs. to the printout?

Would be a great training aid and reference, as I help keep all organized by DP or job# in a three ring binder.

What a sweet program! Grin

Hello,
Not sure if this a issue or not(probably a user issue Wink But some of the tips of a tooth have a sort of chamfer on them. I pointed it out in the screen shots.
Do i have a setting wrong?

Troy

Hi Troy:

It may be due to the size of the gear. If the gear point distance is too large, then such a small gear would cut off points that include the tips. Try a msaller point
distance in the config. Im looking at making the point distance auotmatic internall y to solve such issues, but this is a case where a distance of .001 for example
may be too large.

Lowering to .001 fixed it.
Thanks.
Could you explain what the Gear Point is?  Roll Eyes total newb to gears.

Thanks again Art,

Hi Troy:

Think of the outline of a gear of a set of a great number of points. For example, a straight line can be defined by simply 2 points. A circle or curve though, requires
many more in oorder for that line to look to the user as a proper curve. How many points is an issue. LEts say you zoom into a straigth line, its always a straight line
even though its really only two points. But to draw a curve, specially one as complex as a gear, it requires points very close together so as you zoom in the curve retains its look. If I were to make the points .00000000 01 apart, there would be millions of points on a gear and your memory woudl be eaten up quite quickly. While its easy to
have a formula generate points for a circle , square or other formulaic geometric object, a gear is too hard to define as a formula, so each point must be actually defined
in space that generates the curve. SO we have to have a way to limit how many we make to keep things quick and low memory overhead. So point distance if the
maximum distance betwen points when generatin g the gear. Its keep the point count down while allowing you to specify just how coarse your happy with in your
particula r applicati on. Its a hard to compute value for me as everyone has differing needs.
On the generatio n screen your seeing the actual generated points with lines between them. SO if it looks good there your good to go. If you generate the gear for display,
the system may use even fewer points than you specified for speed and display purposes, but it will retain the design screen points for output. So dont worry if a simulated gear
has less points or cutoffs liek you describe, as long as the design screen looks good, your OK as that is the data used for the various outputs, with the exception fo 3d model output which gives you what you see. GCode, DXF and print outputs will always be to the resolutio n of the design screen with "Point distance" between each point.

( Nat always as the system will sometimes limit for other reasons, but generally the above is true.)

Troy:

No problem. Gears, as objects , look incredibl y simple but are in reality very complex objects with a great
many attribute s that are rarely understoo d by the guy who simply wants a gear that works. Dont feel bad
on any question type, no matter how simple or how complex, I try to answer any question as best I can ,
and if I dont know the answer, Ill give my best shot at finding out.

Is that something that can be changed on the fly and somehow regenerat e an entire project?

Hi Sky:

No, unfortuna tly, its a parameter that affects the original data created for a gears profile.

New to this program but having trouble with the 1:1 print feature - I get a note to "be patient this may take a while" and then a printer selection window.  When I hit print, the window disappear s and nothing else happens.??  Must be a simple mistake on my part but I can't  find where.
Any thoughts appreciat ed.

Hi Ray:

Hmm, thats a new one. What are you trying to print? It isnt a 3d object is it? You cant for example print a bevel gear or helical gear.
Can you post a saved project here so I can try it here?

Thx
