i see the output page that says the g code can be sent to my mach3 machine. on my screen the choice is grayed out and not avaible??? the send to notepad is active but i have to go out and load notepad or in my case i use wordpad to see the files. then i can send that to mach3 to run the gear. is there a way to marry these programs?? could it be loaded like the vidio plugin to be used like the wizzards?? larry in alaska

Larry; Tried your scenerio using V4.63 and wasn't able to reproduce the problem your seeing. Not sure why that is yet but will test some more and will get back to you. A new version will soon be available once it is tested, perhaps this will eliminate this issue also. Selecting 4th axis GCode from the output manager is only possible for particula r types of gears such as bevels and helicals which will create a 4th axis rotary indexer Gcode fully supported by Mach3. It cannot be used though on non-involute tooth forms such as cycloidic gears or imaginary etc... Cheers Bob

Do you have Mach3 open whilst you are doing this and is it in the default directory ?

i have had mach3 open and it is in c:\ file the same as gearotic.
i'm running these two programs on a puter not hooked up to my cnc machine and that is running under vista.
both programs run normal while playing with them.
when bugs go away i will transfer them to the unite using xp home in the shop.

Hi Larry:
This may be a Vista issue. You may have to run both Mach and GM as adminstra tor to do it, or Vista may just not allow it. ( I dont run Vista so Im unsure. ) It DOES seem to work here fine in XP though..

 well went out to the shop and loaded gearotics on that machine whichis running xp and only mach3 a real bearbone machine, and still the line for send to mach3 is grayed out? i am running under msm on the mach screen. didn;t try on the machmill screen but would think that shouldn;t make a differanc e?? didn't have time to double check for admin status on that sheen but as it has nothing but mach and gear on it and both are in the c:\ directory ..... am contempla ting installin g an other puter running xp professio nal, but again i will strip it down to only bear bone programin g. larry

Larry:
Works fine here.. as long as Mach3 is started priot to gearotic. . Ill give some thought as to why, but the item only greys out if Windows reports that a runnign copy of Mach3 hasnt been found.

Larry;
I ran Mach3 after my Gearotic was running and my "send Gcode to MAch3" was grayed out and bacame active while Mach3 booted, so I don't think the order in which these get ran is important, using XP anyway.

OK?? so what do i do now?? back when i first started getting things running i goofed and had an accident that jamed up my machine had a major thrash to get things shut down. afterword s i started having problems with msm. i could not get teach to work , then i lost output to my steppers, chased with both cnc4pc and dave at msm and ended up removing all referance i could find relating to mach3 reloaded every thing and things started to work as they should, it was determine d that maby some how i ended up with a crupt file and that reloading might have cleared that up. if it were not for the fact that i am having similar problem on two seperate machines using different op systems.. . i would suspect a bad file again. any other ideas? larry

Larry:
The way it works is that when Mach3 starts it tells the OS that it is running and gives a global identifie r to the system so it can be found. What gearotic does is ask the system if Mach3 is seen running. If the answer is no, then the button gets greyed out. It could be affected by a great many system services or security.
You may find its less hassle to simply generate then load the files into mach3 manually as searchign a system to find exactly whats going on could be very difficult . A fresh load of Windows may help if its a system issue, or a windows issue. I cant see anywhere in Gearotic that I can better ind the applicati on when Mach3 for whatever reason wont answer..
