John:

Do you know where I can find a copy of GM Smith's escapemen t analyser?  I tried to email you, but keep having trouble with them bouncing.

Thanks!

Hi Art,

This is my first post to the forum, so my apologies in advance for the bug report  Embarrassed

I appreciat e all the qudos for the added features but has anyone actually used version 3.8?

In the spur gears screen, try setting the pinion size to 8 teeth, notice the asymetric al tooth form and the poor messing.
Now try reducing the wheel tooth number... same effect.

I reinstall ed version 3.61 and everythin g is back to normal. Cool

It's probably a case of the forest obscuring the trees.

best regards, Gary

Art,

Yes that is exactly the problem.
I reinstall ed version 3.8 and checked the settings. .. the point distance was 0.25?
After changing to your suggested 0.0001, the gear geometry was correctly rendered.

So, I reverted to the previous version and checked the settings ... the point distance was 0.0001.
After reinstall ing v 3.8 the point distance remained at 0.0001.

I'm guessing that these settings are saved in some configura tion file that is untouched between installat ions, but why would version 3.61 work with a point distance of 0.25 and how did it become initialis ed to that value ( I don't recall changing any settings except to inch from metric ) Huh

edit>>   I forgot to say thank you for your rapid reply and fix Smiley

Gary:

Probably wasnt you.. I tightened up the default dist setting in saving the xml.. it's possible my fix screwed up some peopels setting of it. Not that thats a bad thing.. at least you now will never get fooled by that setting again. It shoudl be more robust from version to version now.
