I have search for my output files today to find, after a while, that the Program Settings default folder was pointing to the Geardata folder in a ... previous version   Roll Eyes
Is there a reason why the Output Manager does not write the output files along with the project in the project's folder instead of the actual default.
Or is this possible already?
Thanks,
Gaston

Gaston:

The location for the storage of files is in the registry, so if you installed before.. you need to change it before it will go anywhere else.
The program doesnt know it was installed before and saw a storage location was stored.

Thx

I see. What name is it stored in the registry? I looked for gearotic and gearoticm otion to no avail?

Unless there is a good reason to do it the way it is, I would suggest to remove the default location and have the Output Manager to store the output files along with the project in the project folder.
That would save having to change the default in Program Settings for every new project.
Does this make sense?

Not sure I get you. I never change my folder settings , they point to a desktop folder called GearData. . and each time I output a project it nicely goes into its own subfolder in GearData. .

Keeps them tidy and all looks good.. As lonmg as you name your project it seems fairly easy to use?

Thanks Art,
[ Not sure I get you. I never change my folder settings , they point to a desktop folder called GearData. . and each time I output a project it nicely goes into its own subfolder in GearData. .]

I see, it has more to do with the way I organize things then. I usually try to keep everythin g (drawings, program, images, pdf doc ...) related to a project in its own folder under that project.

For example, suppose ProjectA needs a gear system, I would save the file GearSyste m.gprj in the folder c:ProjectA\GearSystem\  then, I would expect Output Manager to save the output files in c:\ProjectA\GearSystem\gearData automatic ally, without having to change the default path in Program Settings every time I change project.

It would be more convenien t, for me at least, if the default path would be where the gprj file is saved.
Hope this is clearer.
