+1 for involute cutter profiles, por favor.  Tiny endmills are a bit of a drag.

It seems to me that if the program can output a gear profile to be cut with an end mill the profile should also be usable for cutting a form cutter, ie B&S-type gear cutters. The form cutter is just the other side of the profile line. Is this a valid presumpti on?

Presuming so, the other issue is whether you want to produce the standard cutters or are intereste d in cutters specific to the tooth counts you wish to cut. The standard cutters are correct for the low tooth count of the range, they are declared to be "close enough" for the higher tooth counts until you get to the next "standard" cutter.

Hi all,

-Two buttons in every section,(spur gears, lantern, imaginary, etc)
One for "values set by the user last time"
Another "by default with the originals values"

-Two buttons in the same manner for the Output Manager

(even the user does not save the project, but the program save the values)

Salvador;

 Thanks for the post. I'm not sure I understan d your question perfectly but every time you change a gear setting in GM, it will remember these changes and will continue to use them until you change something else. If program is restarted, now default values will be used. Once you have made any changes to a gear in GM and saved it using the output manager, a (Involute-001-Params.tx t) will be generated to ease with reproduci ng the same gear all over again should it be required. As to re-establishing your old parameter s with a restart could be more  problemat ic than good if you'd forget to select something simple for example, so is best in my opinion to keep it this way. Your idea is noted and will under go review, thanks...

Cheers

Bob,

These days I am working with lantern pinions, experienc ing, and is very annoying for me to rewrite all the data, either for the file "params.tx t" or from my memory.
If I save the project, I look back to open the button "copy to design" in gray and does not work.

Thanks...

(I am very grateful that you are working on this project as ArtF. I am very happy with Mach3 from 2003 year)

Hi Salvador;

 My first question is what version are you using at the moment? This can be found by clicking the "?" icon on the top of Gearotic's menu bar. Next, if you properly save a project under the filename extension of "gprj" , you should be able to "open" it again using GM, which should import and restore all of your previous work.  Once loaded, by selecting any of the gears in the project database, meaning gear highlight ed in blue, the informati on about that gear should now appears on the screen. Are you able to do this in the version you are currently using?

Cheers
