Hi Guys:

Here you can drop suggestio ns for things youd like to see in future. The plan for Gearotic is this,
it will be released approxima tely on Oct3/2010, Ill be away for a month after release, during this time
the program will be run in demo or release form with no updates or bug fixes. In November, an update
process will be done to repair any bugs found in the first month. Should the program be popular, Ill
take the suggestio ons here and begin looking into which is possible and we'll take a poll on the most desireabl e. Additions can be added in that type of order. All updates are free, so its just a matter of what
gets added when and in what order.
While functiona l updates may be infrequen t and dependent on popularit y, bug fixes as of Nov will be
dealt with much more quickly.

So suggest away for what youd like to see.

Bevels, straight followed by spiral.

HDT timing belt pullies as opposed to the trapezoid al type like XL, L etc these just use a ball nose cutter and cut straight across like spur gears, should be easy  as it's cutter dependant and  just indexing.

The ability to cut it's own involute cutters in spade or D bit orientati on.

let me think a bit more..... ......... ......

Bevel gears is the reason I joined up, I have been looking for a simple way to cut them for a while now. Thanks for taking on this project.

Hi Guys:

Gearotic Motion is now released. Ill be heading off on a much needed
decompres sion next week for a month. When I return, Ill look at adding what
I can. It seems so far the order is..

1) Spokes, better control of rim and boss etc..
2) Bevel gears.
3) WormGears ( or screws.. )
4) differing types of timing gears.

Im thinking a database of saved settings, as many types
of timing gears and such can be done now with the settings
tweaked appropria tely..

I guess well see what gets added to the priority list when I return..

Ill be around for the next week to fix up any release bugs. There are bugs present
still but I didnt want to make everyone who wants to use Gcode and such
to have to wait till Nov 1st to get there.. We'll get the bugs this week
and after I return..

Thx

Would Geneva drive mechanism s (internal and external) fall under the scope of Gearotic?

Hi Art-
First, great program - I look forward to trying it out cutting some gears once my 4th axis is finished - this is extra motivatio n.

I would like to suggest that an option to crown the gears would be a fun addition.  Taken to the extreme, this would make the gear almost spherical, which could allow some interesti ng gear trains to be created.  This could allow torque to be transmitt ed around corners, like a hydraulic jack handle - you twist it to open or close the hydraulic valve, yet the handle can move up and down, allowing the gear shafts to not be parallel.

Keith;

Thanks for the post.  I'll have to think about this one. The 3d display in V2 might be a start...

Cheers

Sprockets for chains would be great... Sprockets are a pain to design and there are not too many variation s in chains.
An Undo /Cntrl-Z might be helpful or I am just used to it and missing it.
Great program
Thanks

+1 for involute cutter profiles, por favor.  Tiny endmills are a bit of a drag.
