Thanks Art,
That was a huge differenc e, Now the shape centers are perfect and no problem with the number of nodes either.

Thanks

2  General Category / Gear Discussions / How to find rotational center of the gear on: January 17, 2016, 07:15:45 PM
I am having problems finding the center of the gear for a planetary gear as the pdf does not print the shaft. The cross hair is not the rotationa l center. Is there any way to pint the shaft on a planetary gear? See attached picture, it shows the gears the cross hair and its center as an object and its all different . I tried to print the shaft separatel y but the cross hairs dont line up between two prints, I will need some common reference to line up the gears.

Thanks
Kim

Art,
I have the epilog laser and the program I imported the gears is Coreldraw . Depending on the laser setting it does different things like speeds on curves vs straight line and small mod gear teeth cuts cleaner with fewer nodes.
thanks

Art,
I was thinking of reducing the number of nodes as I was cutting this in plastic with a laser. As you can see in this attached picture I manually reduced the number of nodes on one side of the gear. The problem with so many nodes it is difficult to fine tune the cutting speed and get a clean edge. I am just playing with all the available options for now.
Thanks

I have been cutting some gears on a laser and want to play with the point distance and I could not find it, has it been removed as an user settable option?

Happy new year.
Thanks

Art,
Thank you, I got it, it's such a beautiful looking gear now.
Merry Christmas to you too

7  General Category / Gear Discussions / No spokes on smaller gears on: December 24, 2015, 04:11:10 PM
Hi, I have been making some small gears and I am not able to generate any spokes for the gears smaller than 1.8", the spokes disappear once it is smaller than ~1.8". I have done gears before with the older version of Gearotic on gears smaller then 1cm in dia. is this a bug or am I missing some setting in the newer version. Any help is appreciat ed.

Thanks

Art,
I just saw the tutorial for 3D printing, and I was very impressed . I was also wondering if you could output a file for laser 3D engraving?

Thanks

I have applicati ons to use some rack and pinion gears, please consider it to add to the list of things to do in GM.
Thanks

Dan,
I tried that it works for 5 inside gears because they are 90 degrees apart and it snaps at 90 degrees but if you want to do the 4 inside gear version where the three gears are 120 degrees apart it is a close placement by nudging the gears, not exact so the side plate cannot be used directly.

Thanks

How does one make the planetary gears with GM?. I mean being able to make and simulate, with either 4 or 5 internal ones. Something similar to the example in the tutorial for output manager.

Thanks

Art,
I uninstall ed my program and installed V2.20, but on start up the icon shows 2.0, During uninstall it did ask do you want to uninstall Gearotic V2.20.
I cannot install V2.22 I get message "Internal Error B109-6 cannot decompres s setup Program"  I checked the AVI recording after new install and I still have the same problem.
Thanks
Kim
